This is based on the stories of the Polish Hussar warriors (There were Hungarian as well). The burnished armor and wings and heavy war horses added an almost otherworldy atmosphere to the battle, especially when the sun struck them.
This is a bit stylized though I have had opportunity to see a few Hussar armor pieces.
